November News

Hi parents and students of VPS!
It's unbelievable that we're heading toward the second semester of school already! I've decided to move our newsletter into a blog so that you always have access to the links added previously and the new ones! With winter break just around the corner, these activities will keep the kids busy AND be educational at the same time!
One of the new sites that you might enjoy is ZacBrowser. This is a really cooll site that you might want to download for your kids. It's free (at least for now). A grandpa of a student who was diagnosed with having autism developed this site. However, it's a great resource for any young student! The site is at: http://www.zacbrowser.com/ . Just scroll to the bottom and click on the left button (install). It will put a Zacbrowser icon on your desktop. The site includes educational games, videos, stories, etc.
Another site that you might enjoy is Literactive. This site provides guided reading stories, animated videos of the stories, and educational games to play with them. It's amazing! and FREE! Just go to http://www.literactive.com/Home/index.asp to register.
Check out the free trial of BookFlix to get amazing stories online for your child! Go to http://teacher.scholastic.com/PRODUCTS/BOOKFLIXFREETRIAL/ to check it out!
We are super excited about our ability to have our students access our new Envision math series online from home! Your child can practice using the new skills he/she has learned by just logging in! Most logins are firstname followed by lastname with no spaces for both username and password. However, some had to be changed because of technical difficulties! Your child's teacher should have this for you if you haven't received it already! The link to Envision is https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/login.jsp . Enjoy!
Please let me know if you have any questions about logins! Just email me at jkern@usd266.com.
Have a fantastic break!
Jen
